Unlike most of her peers, Stephanie learned CAD (computer aided design) not by drawing living rooms and kitchens, but by drawing molecular models.

She’s armed with a degree in biology and even spent time working in research and development, but she craved a more creative path. She made the leap into interior design in 2003, opening a retail furnishings showroom she christened “The House Downtown” in the heart of Baltimore. That venture was closely followed by the launch of SGI, applying her classic, current, comfortable aesthetic to designs for clients’ homes.

Even beyond the gorgeous fabrics, finishes, and furnishings, Stephanie also incorporates functional luxury into her designs with layouts that maximize the clients’ space, storage that accommodates their individual needs, and personal details that she goes out of her way to discover.

Today, Stephanie’s clients reap the huge benefits of the nearly two decades of lessons she’s gleaned about design and business, lessons you just can’t learn from a book. Her processes and the service she provides her clients are every bit as distinctive and exceptional as the homes she designs.

All of that has led to public recognition and media attention over the years. Home & Design Magazine named her as a “Hot Talent” in 2016, and her work has appeared in HouseBeautiful.com, The Glitter Guide, Home Beautiful, Baltimore Style Magazine, Baltimore Magazine, Chesapeake Home, and The Baltimore Sun.

Stephanie is also a wife and mom of two great kids, ages 21 and 14, plus two crazy cats, so she gets what it’s like to have an active, busy household.

Our STudio

Our gorgeous studio space (complete with a high end custom kitchen, furnishings showroom, and stunning conference room) allows us to bring our clients in and help them visualize what their homes can be. It’s an immersive experience that makes all the difference as they touch and feel fabrics, sit on actual furniture, and envision what it would be like to live in a luxury space of this caliber.
